Quito is a capital city of contrasts with its well-preserved historical center and its thriving new town. So there is plenty to explore while you take your Spanish classes. Spanish lessons in Quito are generally from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm or from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm whch leaves half the day free to explore any of the many worthwhile sites to visit. There are plazas and churches, ancient streets and colonial buildings in the historic center, along with many bars, restaurants and shopping centers in the newer part of the city. At the school there is a calendar of extra activities and recommendations each week. Spanish students can sign up for any of these, including weekend trips to places of interest around Quito. It is easy to spend up to a month or more learning Spanish in Quito without exhausting the possibilities for exploration.
Yanapuma was started in September 2006 by a group of Spanish teachers committed to improving social and enviromnental conditions in Ecuador. The organization also incorporates a foundation - Yanapuma Foundation - which carries out development projects helping indigenous and marginalized communities to develop sustainably. Our "social enterprise" model generates funding through our accredited Spanish school in Quito and our volunteer activities.
Studying with Yanapuma contributes directly to our sustainable development work!
